Panel Discussion: Autumn Sands (Sustainable Research Groups), Dan Stephens (co-director), Diane Cheklich
This event will be a panel discussion about the Line 5 Pipeline, which transports oil and gas through the Straits of Mackinac, the point where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. Line 5 was designed to last 50 years and is now 65-years-old. Currently, it is deteriorating and vulnerable to damage from anchor drops and strong currents. An oil spill from Line 5 would be catastrophic to the Great Lakes. This discussion will explore what this possibility would mean for our state and our nation.
